Ozone therapy is a treatment method that involves the use of a mixture of ozone and oxygen, either locally or systemically. Here are some of the ozone therapy applications available in our unit:
- Major Autohemotherapy: In this procedure, a portion of the patient’s blood (usually 50cc to 100cc) is withdrawn under sterile conditions, mixed with medical ozone gas at an appropriate ratio outside the body, and then reintroduced into the patient’s bloodstream. This is done normobarically, meaning at normal atmospheric pressure.
- Minor Autohemotherapy: In minor autohemotherapy, a small amount of the patient’s blood (typically 2cc to 10cc) is withdrawn, mixed with medical ozone gas at the appropriate ratio under sterile conditions, and then injected into the patient’s muscle tissue.
- Rectal/Vaginal Insufflation: This involves the administration of medical ozone gas to the patient rectally or vaginally at an appropriate ratio.
- Bagging Method: The bagging method is used for external ozone gas application to extremities such as arms and legs. The extremity is enclosed in a special bag, and medical ozone gas is introduced at an appropriate ratio.
- Intradiscal Application: In this procedure, performed under sterile conditions and often guided by imaging techniques (such as C-arm fluoroscopy), expert doctors inject medical ozone gas directly into the intervertebral discs to address spine and disc pathologies.
- Musculoskeletal Applications: These applications involve the injection of medical ozone gas at appropriate ratios into various musculoskeletal structures, including muscles, tendons, tendon sheaths, ligaments, joint spaces, and the areas surrounding joints. These injections can be administered subcutaneously, intradermally, intramuscularly, or intra-articularly.
In our Ozone Therapy Unit, ozone therapy is used for the following conditions:
- Joint, tendon, and ligament injuries
- Pain referred from vertebrae and discs (paravertebral injection)
- Myofascial pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Diabetic ulcers (under the guidance of a relevant specialist)
- Gingivitis and periodontitis
- Trigger point tendon sheath injections
- Intra-articular applications for joint-related issues.
